I’m sure, like me, you’ve been unnerved by stories about people losing money over cybersecurity issues.

That’s why I want to assure you that Baird & Warner is continually doing everything possible to make sure your transactions are protected from hackers and scammers.

We never email instructions

Most hackers are able to determine whether a person is about to wire a large sum of money by hacking the email accounts of the closing agent, real estate attorney, settlement agent, or real estate broker. That’s why Baird & Warner agents like me NEVER email sensitive information. If you ever receive an email asking for bank account information, don’t respond; it’s not from me or your banking institution.

No-go on phone requests, too

As a reminder, we also will never ask for sensitive information over the phone, like a PIN number or Social Security number.

Only use the Baird & Warner secure website

To make certain your transaction is secure, we provide a link to a Baird & Warner website portal where you can safely transfer funds online. The site is hosted on, and you can look for the padlock in the address window to confirm the site is secure.

Take time to verify

After you wire funds through the Baird & Warner site, be sure to follow up and double-check with your institution that the funds arrived in the account. The sooner you realize there might be a problem and reach out – the greater the chance of stopping fraud.
